Solar battery storage in Las Vegas

A home battery stores the solar power you don’t use during the day, so you can use it in the evening or keep essential circuits running during an outage. Tempo installs batteries with new solar systems and adds them to many existing ones.

Why add a battery in Las Vegas?

A battery can make your solar power go further:

  • Evening power: AC keeps running after sunset, when your panels stop producing. A battery covers those hours with your own solar power.
  • Better value for your solar: NV Energy credits power you export at 75% of the retail rate, so storing it to use yourself is often worth more.
  • Outage backup: keep lights, the fridge, internet and other essentials on when the grid goes down.
  • Demand charge: NV Energy plans a daily demand charge for Southern Nevada homes starting in January 2027. A battery can lower your daily peak.

Should I back up my whole home or just essential circuits?

Many homeowners back up essential circuits, such as the refrigerator, lights, internet and a few outlets, which takes less battery capacity. Backing up a whole home, especially central air conditioning, takes considerably more capacity and costs more.

We help you choose what to back up based on what matters to you during an outage and your budget.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

Often, yes. It depends on your current inverter, your electrical panel and your NV Energy agreement. We inspect your system first and tell you what’s needed.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a battery power my home?

It depends on the battery’s capacity and what you’re running. A battery powering essential circuits lasts much longer than one running central AC. We size the battery to the loads you want to back up.

Do I need solar panels to have a battery?

A battery can charge from the grid, but you get the most value when it stores your own solar power for use in the evening and during outages.

Is a battery worth the extra cost?

It depends on your goals. If outage backup, using more of your own solar power or reducing the planned demand charge matter to you, a battery can be worth it. We compare the cost with those benefits for your home.
