How it works

Our install process, step by step.

Going solar with Tempo takes nine steps: four to design and install your system, then five NV Energy steps ending with permission to operate. We handle all of them and keep you updated along the way.

Part 1: Designing and installing your system

  1. 1

    Consultation & site survey

We look at 12 months of NV Energy bills to see how much electricity your home uses, then check your roof’s size, direction, shading and condition, and your electrical panel’s capacity. You’ll know early if you need a panel upgrade or roof work.

  2. 2

    Design & engineering

We lay out the panels on your roof, choose the equipment and engineer the system to code. You review the design, estimated production, price and financing options (cash, loan or PPA) before anything is ordered.

  3. 3

    Permits & materials

We submit permit applications to your city or Clark County and, if you have one, your HOA. Once approved, we order your equipment and schedule the installation.

  4. 4

    Installation

Our licensed crew mounts the panels, installs the inverter and wiring, and connects the system to your electrical panel. We clean up and walk you through how your system works.

Part 2: Getting approved by NV Energy

After installation, your system has to pass inspection and be approved by NV Energy before it can be turned on. We take care of every step.

  1. 5

    County inspection

A building inspector from your city or Clark County checks the finished installation against the permit and electrical code.

  2. 6

    Net metering application

We apply to NV Energy’s net metering program, so the extra power your system sends to the grid earns credits on your bill.

  3. 7

    Interconnection agreement

NV Energy and you sign the agreement that allows your system to connect to and send power to the grid.

  4. 8

    Utility inspection

NV Energy reviews the system and, if needed, updates your meter to measure power flowing both ways.

  5. Permission to operate

NV Energy grants permission to operate (PTO). Your system is switched on and starts saving you money.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to go solar with Tempo?

It depends mostly on permit approval, your HOA (if you have one) and NV Energy’s review. We give you a schedule during the design step and update you at each stage. Some recent customers were up and running in under three weeks.

Can I turn my solar system on before permission to operate?

No. Wait until NV Energy grants permission to operate (PTO). We let you know as soon as it’s approved and your system can be switched on.

Do I have to deal with NV Energy myself?

No. We handle the net metering application, the interconnection agreement and the utility inspection for you, and keep you updated through permission to operate.

Who pulls the permits for my solar system?

We do. Tempo submits the permit applications to your city or Clark County and handles HOA applications when your community requires them.
